đầu tiên → sau đó / rồi → cuối cùng · thứ + số

To describe steps, use đầu tiên (first), sau đó or rồi (then), tiếp theo (next) and cuối cùng (finally). For ordinals put thứ before a number: thứ hai (second), thứ ba (third). The first is nhất and the last is cuối.

เคล็ดลับ: Days of the week use the same pattern: thứ Hai is Monday, the second day.

  • Đầu tiên, rửa rau thật sạch.

    First, wash the vegetables well.

  • Sau đó, cắt rau thành miếng nhỏ.

    Then cut the vegetables into small pieces.

  • Cuối cùng, cho nước mắm vào và trộn đều.

    Finally, add the fish sauce and mix well.

  • Đây là lần thứ ba tôi đến Hội An.

    This is my third time in Hoi An.
