Và joins things (and), nhưng contrasts them (but), and hoặc offers a choice (or). For reasons use vì … nên …: Vì trời mưa nên tôi ở nhà. The two words often appear together, but either one can be dropped.
เคล็ดลับ: In everyday speech people often say only nên or only vì.
