Verbs do not change for time. Add a marker before the verb: đã for the past, đang for something in progress, sẽ for the future. When the time is already clear (hôm qua, ngày mai), the marker is often dropped.

Tips: “Hôm qua tôi đi chợ” is perfectly natural without đã.

Contoh

Tôi đã ăn sáng.
I had breakfast.
Tôi đang học tiếng Việt.
I'm studying Vietnamese.
Ngày mai tôi sẽ đi Huế.
Tomorrow I will go to Huế.
Hôm qua tôi đi chợ.
Yesterday I went to the market.
