Purpose and result
Để và cho nên · Elementary · 4 examples
Pattern
V + để + V · [reason] + nên + [result]
Để (in order to) joins an action to its purpose: Tôi học tiếng Việt để làm việc ở Hà Nội. Nên (so) introduces a result, often after vì (because): Vì trời mưa nên tôi ở nhà.
Tip: Vietnamese often keeps both words: vì … nên …, unlike English which drops one.
